I would like to take this opportunity to rise today to inform the members and the public about a public consultation that is happening tonight in Charlottetown regarding the new Early Learning and Child Care Act.
Madam Speaker, this Act has been created in response to the development of our very popular and successful Preschool Excellence Initiative… as we have modernized the early childhood sector by ensuring equitable access across the province to quality early learning and childcare programs, there was a need to modernize the act that governed this sector.
Tonight we are asking for input from the public on the new Act… Experts from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will be on hand to provide information and answer questions regarding the Act.
Madame Speaker, tonight’s consultation meeting will be offered in both French and English and everyone is invited to attend to learn more about the Act and provide input into the creation of the Act.
Tonight’s meeting is being held at the Charlottetown Hotel between 4 and 8 p.m. and I encourage all Islanders to attend and learn more about the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
