Conversion Therapy in Canada

Conversion Therapy has harmed countless people in Canada, and this practice, unfortunately, continues to this day. The event this past week in our Island schools demonstrate that hate and discrimination still exist in our Province. It is unacceptable.

No Canadian should be forced to change who they are. I am running to be your next Member of Parliament because I want to protect the most vulnerable people in our society, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Conversion therapy in Canada dates back to the 1950s. Such practices are unethical and imply that members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, who have been the target of degrading or dehumanizing practices in an effort to change their sexual orientation against their will, are less valuable or less worth living.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. If elected, I will do my part to listen to those affected and take action to ensure this harm ends.
